light through liquid

Last week the challenge was to portray a traditional still life scene of grapes, glass of 'wine' (double strength apple and blackcurrent squash did the trick), chunk of cheese and a candle... in chalk pastels and everyone did really well.

This week we'll go for some brightly lit coloured liquids in various clear containers - to be captured in watercolour or other paint medium
OR
a white 'marble' (or plaster and fibreglass) greek bust -to be captured in white anything on black paper.

Classes going ahead!

Tues 13.01  - UPDATE: The sun is out, the snow is melting so the class is on as usual. If you are having problems getting there, let me know and don't travel if you don't feel safe.

Mon eve -  UPDATE: forecast has changed so we may have to reconsider. Will make a decision by lunchtime.

Mon morning - The weather is set to get a little better tomorrow so I don't foresee it disrupting the Tuesday evening class...

Lesson 2 of 8 - sunset/sunrise over water in colour. Choose your medium, remember the tonal work done last week and apply these tones to your colour work. Work as large as you can, bring an easel if necessary -  I WILL bring some spotlights, hairdryer and an extra table and will try to arrive early enough to switch the heaters on so it's a bit warmer than last week! We'll spend the whole of this lesson on the one finished piece, concentrating on techniques with different mediums as and when necessary.
